Legislation in TN Simplified

This bill in Tennessee prohibits public institutions of higher education (colleges and universities) from promoting what it describes as "divisive concepts" related to race or sex, and requires them to investigate and address reports of violations. A few of these concepts are privilege in regards to race of sex and the idea that the united states is inherently racist. It also prohibits institutions from discriminating against students or employees who do not support these concepts, and provides a process for reporting alleged violations. The bill also sets guidelines for the use of institution's property for public displays and gatherings, and prohibits the institution from showing bias or favoritism towards any student group or guest speaker based on their viewpoint, race, religion, or political affiliation. Finally, the bill requires the removal of any course, program, or activity that promotes a divisive concept.
